Dayana Stetco has a B.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, an M.A. in Creative Writing and a Ph.D. in Literature and Film from Wayne State University, Detroit. She is an Assistant Professor of Drama and Film at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She writes and directs plays. Her book about interdisciplinary theatre which details her work with The Milena Group, an experimental theatre ensemble she formed in 2001, is nearing completion. Her plays have been produced in the U.S., in England, and in her native country, Romania. Recent productions include: The Fantastical Nightmares of Mr. Dorian Gray, Scar, The Language of Mannequins, Milena Stripping (National Playwriting Award), Interview, Face, and Seducing Velasquez ( By The Rules Award, Theatre in the Mill, UK). Her short stories and plays have been published in Dispatch Detroit, Metrotimes, Interdisciplinary Humanities, mark(s), Emergency Almanac, Gender(f), Poesis and Echinox. She has written about the work of British filmmaker Peter Greenaway (in Peter Greenaway’s Postmodern/Poststructuralist Cinema, Scarecrow Press, 2001) and Romanian fiction writer Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu (in Lines of Fire: Women and WWI, Penguin, 2000). She is currently working on the last play of her tetralogy, The End of Violence, scheduled to open in November, 2005.
