Watching a Lover Assemble a Chair

He built it from nothing —
a box hidden within

a larger box. Plush chair cushion.
Eleven bolts. Everything

we would need
included in the box

we would no longer need
after each piece found

its place. But waste
is the nature

of assembly — how one completion
leaves another thing empty.
